MNPD Oversight

The topic of Civilian Review Boards have been discussed for decades.

Some of the critical factors involved include, powers placed with the board (provide recommendations or power to discipline or refer to the District Attorney), makeup of the board (experts in law enforcement or knowledgable citizen leaders), and does this oversight extend to other components of the Criminal Justice System (District Attorney, Sheriff, Attorneys, Judges, Clerks and Referees).

There appears to be a ballot item that will be on the November Ballot -- one that was created by thousands of Nashvillians signing a petition to move this issue forward, in a democratic process.
